Credit the research contribution without ranking financial exposure
By DX Research Group · · Incentives and participation
A proposed contribution record names useful work while keeping trading volume outside research standing.
Research credit should describe what someone helped establish. A ranking based on trading volume would answer a different question and could make high exposure look like scientific authority. We propose a contribution record that credits a fixture, correction or reviewed diagnosis without requiring the contributor to reveal a wallet balance or trade more.
The dated Chapter 0 guide already distinguishes profile badges, trading milestones and team-distributed bonuses. Its levels follow eligible builder-code mainnet volume, and the chapter's bonus points are program points rather than cash. Those documented measures have their own purpose. A research-credit design should preserve their meaning while giving evidence work a separate descriptive record.
Three people, one finding
In an illustrative case, one participant reports that a stale strategy name appears after an edit. Another supplies a minimal reproduction using a saved example. A third notices that the proposed correction breaks a second language layout. The useful attribution is a small account of those roles: initial report, reproduction and regression case. The team can credit all three with their consent, even if none increased financial exposure during the investigation.
A contribution record would identify the question, reviewed artifact and bounded role. The owner chooses a public name, pseudonym or no public credit. Financial account identifiers stay outside the public record. Where several reports describe the same issue, retain the affected-user count internally as appropriate and explain shared discovery without inventing a winner.
This design also handles support work. A participant who helps clarify another person's expected behavior may produce no new bug, yet their explanation can turn an unusable report into a testable one. Crediting “clarified reproduction conditions” is more accurate than awarding a generic status whose meaning changes across cases.
The controls paper companion grounds our emphasis on reviewed artifacts: its historical harness revisions were examined through replayed scenarios and trace measures. A community contribution becomes useful when it can join that kind of diagnostic chain. Attribution should link to the public fixture or summary where disclosure is permitted, leaving private evidence private.
Audit who becomes visible
We would evaluate the proposed record by checking whether contributors with complete, accepted work receive accurate attribution regardless of participation style. Compare voluntary public contributors with people who submit privately. Examine how often reproduction and correction roles disappear behind the original reporter's name. These are process observations, with no inference about market forecasting quality.
A second audit can ask reviewers to reconstruct what each credited person contributed from the displayed record. If the attribution merely says “top contributor,” reconstruction will be difficult. A short role description should permit a precise answer without asking about returns or holdings.
The output is a readable history of useful work, rather than a new economic reward program. A contribution can remain valuable after a feature is retired or a result is corrected, because the credit names the question it helped resolve. That durability is the reason to keep research standing attached to evidence.
